Mensuration Area Menu

The mensuration area menu control allows users to manage the area display units in the Mensuration Pane edit control. The popup menu is accessible from the Mensuration Pane Area Units toolbar button.

The popup menu items are:

• Kilometers
  
  When this option is selected the area units will be displayed in square kilometers. A kilometer is a metric unit of measurement equal to 1,000 meters (approximately 0.62 miles).

• Hectares
  
  When this option is selected the area units will be displayed in hectares. A hectare is a metric unit of square measure, equal to 100 ares (2.471 acres or 10,000 square meters).

• Ares
  
  When this option is selected the area units will be displayed in ares. An are is a metric unit of area, equal to 100 square meters (10m × 10m).

• Meters
  
  When this option is selected the area units will be displayed in square meters. A meter is the fundamental unit of length in the metric system, equal to 100 centimeters or approximately 39.37 inches.

• Miles
  
  When this option is selected the area units will be displayed in square miles. A mile is a unit of linear measure equal to 5,280 feet, or 1,760 yards (approximately 1.609 kilometers).

• Acres
  
  When this option is selected the area units will be displayed in acres. An acre is a unit of land area equal to 4,840 square yards (0.405 hectare).

• Yards
  
  When this option is selected the area units will be displayed in square yards. A yard is a unit of linear measure equal to 3 feet (0.9144 meter).

• Feet
  
  When this option is selected the area units will be displayed in square feet. A foot is a unit of linear measure equal to 12 inches (30.48 cm).
