Coverage is cut to one-degree cells of the WGS84 graticule. The explorer is the way in: browse published layers over our own WMS and see what a cell holds.

Offline by design

Built for links that drop.

Commercial basemap providers deliver through metered APIs and access tokens that assume a live connection. These products assume the opposite: disconnected, denied, intermittent, and low-bandwidth (DDIL) conditions, where the data has to already be on the disk.

    The files are yours

    Cells are bought once at $1.00 and kept. No recurring token, no seat count, no metered access, and nothing reporting back to us once the file is on your disk.

    The viewer shows what ships

    The raster drawn in the map explorer is the raster packaged in the GeoPackage. Inspect a cell at full zoom before deciding whether to buy it.

    Native WGS 84

    Cut and stored in EPSG:4326, the projection tactical and field frameworks already expect. ATAK, WinTAK, QGIS, and ruggedized avionics read it without reprojecting from EPSG:3857 at runtime.

    Sized for the edge

    One-degree cells with tile pyramids to zoom 17. A cell runs from a few hundred megabytes to just over four gigabytes, small enough to carry on a rugged tablet or load onto an air-gapped system.

Cartography differs from standard OSM

Tiles come from a renderer built for field contrast rather than from the Mapnik stylesheet. The result reads as OpenStreetMap, but feature hierarchy, label placement, and symbolization differ in places. The explorer draws the same tiles the GeoPackage contains, so the styling can be checked against your own requirements before purchase.

Coverage is partial, and the map is the authority

NAIP is flown state by state, so the published extent is a bounding box with holes in it. 584 one-degree cells carry imagery, against 938 for the OpenStreetMap layer. A cell inside the extent that has no file cannot be selected and is never charged for. Check the map explorer before planning around a given area; it is the authoritative answer on what is purchasable.

MG3 seams along county boundaries

The 2018–2019 baseline was cut from MrSID MG3 county files. MG3 carries no alpha channel, so color steps and edge seams can show along the mosaic boundaries. They are visible in the explorer before download, and the $1.00 price reflects both the vintage and the artifacts.

2023 to 2025 vintages in production

Pipelines for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 NAIP vintages are in progress. Those sources are MrSID MG4, which carries native alpha transparency, so the mosaic seams resolve and resolution improves. Not yet published.

  • Global Sentinel cloudless

    Cloud-free Sentinel-2 composites at global coverage, cut into the same 1° WGS 84 GeoPackage cells.

  • Multi-source hybrid basemaps

    Blue Marble for macro context, Sentinel-2 at regional scale, and NAIP at high resolution, fused with OpenStreetMap vector overlays in a single layer.
